We are learning to find the answers in the book. It is easy to answer questions where the answer is in the book. It is sometimes hard to answer questions where the answer isn’t in the book (Inference Questions).

We Are Learning To say rhyming words.

"We are learning about rhyming words. Rhyming words help us sound out words. It was easy to read some beginning sounds in words. It was tricky to get the middle and last sound of the words."

We Are Learning To read with fluency and expression

Every week we learn a new poem that we take home to share with our families. We worked with our group to pick our favourite and practised reading it.

"I am learning to read the poem. I am so proud of reading the words. It was tricky to say some new words."

I am learning to retell what I have read.

"I have learnt to say what happens in the story.  I can say what happens at the beginning, middle and the end. I can point to the words, and sound them out.  Long words are hard to read.  Mrs Wyatt helps me with my reading."

I am learning to identify a sentence, for eg, the beginning with capitals and the end with full stops.

 "It was hard to find the letters.  I had to look very carefully.  I felt happy when I finished."

I am learning to look at the first and last sounds in words to help me work out new words

In Reading we have been learning lots of things to help 

us to work out new letter sounds and words.

"I thought it was funny when they went down the slide and got their pants wet" Haley said.
